When I started my own business as a web designer, I knew I needed a platform that gave me full design control while still allowing me to develop sites without deep coding knowledge. After researching the market, I found that Webflow was the gold standard for no-code website development, offering both design freedom and powerful functionality.
Why Webflow?
Webflow is a powerful, user-friendly web design and development platform with a robust CMS that makes updates easy. It allows for complete design flexibility, letting me create custom, high-end websites without needing third-party plugins or custom code for every small change.
A lot of people compare Webflow to Squarespace and Wix, but these platforms are template-based and restrictive, whereas Webflow sits in a category of its own. It provides the tools to build fully custom, polished, and high-performing websites that don’t feel cookie-cutter or outdated.
Why We Chose Webflow Over WordPress
I had heard too many horror stories about WordPress sites:
- Slow and clunky
- Outdated UI that’s not user-friendly
- Custom designs require coding knowledge
- Too reliant on plugins
Plugins were the biggest dealbreaker for me. If they’re not updated regularly, they can break your website or leave it vulnerable to security risks. That’s not a risk I was willing to take with client sites.
With Webflow, there’s very little need for plugins. Everything: SEO tools, accessibility checks, and animation features, all come built-in. That means fewer points of failure and a more streamlined experience.
My 6 Favourite Features Of Webflow
- Complete design freedom – I’m not limited by rigid templates or outdated page builders.
- No need for plugins – Everything I need is already built into the platform.
- Powerful CMS – Clients can easily update menus, blog posts, and team pages without touching the design.
- Incredible animations & interactions – What would take hours on another platform takes minutes in Webflow.
- Fast, polished websites – Webflow sites have clean code, fast load times, and a premium look.
- One of the most underrated features is the Webflow Editor, which lets clients update content without touching the design. I can even be added as a collaborator to provide ongoing support and create training videos.
What Webflow is Best For
Webflow is perfect for service-based businesses that care about:
- A premium, custom design
- A seamless, polished user experience
- An easy-to-update CMS without the hassle of plugins
This is why all of our service-based websites use Webflow. It allows us to create high-end, interactive designs that position Vim Studio as a premium Webflow agency.
When Webflow Isn’t the Best Choice
While Webflow is excellent for service-based businesses, I wouldn’t recommend it for eCommerce—at least not yet. Shopify still takes the cake for online stores, which is why it’s our platform of choice for eCommerce projects.
That said, Webflow is constantly evolving, and I have no doubt it will continue to push the boundaries of web design and AI-powered website tools.
Final Thoughts
For businesses that rely on beautiful, high-performing websites, Webflow is the best choice for design, functionality, and ease of use. It’s the platform we trust at Vim Studio, and it allows us to deliver high-end websites that stand out from the competition.
